I agree with you mike
if Kane has future plans on staying in Buffalo then trade him now. If he wants to stay then find a way!

I'll start off by saying that I don't think Muzzin is a good option for the Sabres simply because I'm not sure if they're a legit Cup contender in the next 3 years. That said, Muzzin is an excellent defenseman making only $4M per, so if the Sabres want him for 1 year of Kane, I'd want to know what they're adding.

The sheik he drove his Cadillac
He went cruisin down the ville
Muzzin was standing on the radiator grille.

The Bedouin they brought out, their electric camel drum,
the local guitar picker got his guitar picking thumb
As soon as the shariff cleared the square, they began to wail.

No quotes, but Kaiser with the Clash made me laugh out loud.

If we trade Kane for Muzzin, is it required that certain posters here will wail for years that he's not a 3/2 but rather a 4/3 or a 5/4 on a Cup team? If so, then keep Kane and sign him up till he's 38 years old, please.

Kane brings everything we lack up front:
speed
5 vs 5 scoring
grit
scoring from the wing

Better be a darn good deal to move him imo. I say lock him up (with a contract, not the other way)

ror and okposo disagree
- homiedclown

They aren't remotely the same

Over the past two years

O'Reilly - 115 points
Okposo - 107 points
Kane- 78 points
Hell, Reinhart has 90

I like Kane's play for the most part (when he is on his game) but he's 6th on a bottom 5 team in points over the past two years, and we want to give him 6 mil?

But he isn't really an all around player. He is a speed guy who is hard on the puck and can put it in the net. He doesn't pass well, and he cant dangle. So while his points are almost all goals, and not assists, he contributes to the team in other ways that have been traditionally viewed as valuable - a hard forecheck, and wearing out the other teams defense.

With Reinhart on the wing, Kane has split most of his time between Eichel and the rotating 3C. I don't know the stats, but he appears to produce well with Jack distributing, and I think he makes room for Jack, too (they both like to carry the puck too much, but I would hope Kane can be talked out of that).

I wonder if Kane's stats improve if he plays with other guys who distribute the puck better?

They probably would, but two things

A. You can say that for most wingers, and can find a guy to ride shotgun with an elite center for a good price
B. He's historically had issues finding chemistry with ALL centers. He was moved constantly in WPG, and it's been the same here.

If he was already locked up for the next 3 years at 5 mil, this isn't even a discussion, unless they desperately want him gone
